Waiting for weigh in.
Our little African-American princess had to wait on the sidelines. We don't want to call her fat, but she was three ounces too many. Which is to say, she weighed three ounces.
The competition.
The distance.
Bring it.
A nail-biter for Otto. A bitter pill for Gus.
"Most imaginative?"
You'd better believe it.
But seriously, which car do you think everyone was talking about?
Hint: not the "winner."
P.S. Gus said the best part of the design was that the guy looked just like him. I like a kid with a healthy self-esteem.

great photo essay. Having "been there, done that" I loved your pictures. I don't think we ever took any. And the kids got to experience both sides of the "win/lose" problem.
first of all, love the photos, especially of the track. and of ol' chubbs. and then, of course, the car. love love love.
The pictures tell the story perfectly!
(I deleted the other comment, because I mistakenly declared that this should have been a "photography" post. And guess what? It is.)
Gus IS Mr. Pinewood Derby! Wish we could have been there to cheer him on. The clarity and colors in the photos are impressive.
